The Finnish sauna tradition created a unique natural experiment: a large population of regular sauna users with multigenerational consistency. This allowed researchers, particularly Professor Jari Laukkanen and colleagues at the University of Eastern Finland, to conduct long-term epidemiological studies that are simply not possible for newer wellness technologies.
